How to prepare for a CMMC interview
A strong CMMC interview is rarely a test of acronym recall. Hiring teams want to hear how you think, what you have owned, and how you turn requirements into evidence a business can sustain.
Build stories around the work
Prepare examples involving an SSP, POA&M, evidence collection, CUI scoping, or control ownership. Explain the situation, your responsibility, what you changed, and the measurable result.
If you supported rather than led the work, say so. Clear ownership sounds stronger than an inflated claim that falls apart under follow-up questions.
Expect evidence questions
Be ready to explain how you would validate that a control operates in practice. Discuss the people you would interview, the artifacts you would inspect, and how you would document a gap without losing the business audience.
Connect compliance to operations
The best answers show that compliance is not a document exercise. Describe how you partner with IT, security, HR, legal, and business owners to make requirements workable over time.
